The Blood of Dawnwalker 30-Day Time System: Slots, Costs and Planning

Plan Dawnwalker's 30-day clock, understand time segments and budget the decisions that move the story forward.

Dawnwalker Field Guide clock emblem

You have 30 in-game days to deal with the crisis around Coen’s family, but the clock does not run continuously while you explore. Time advances when you complete certain goals or deliberately change the day/night state. The display is split into eight segments during the day and eight at night.

That gives a theoretical planning budget of 480 visible segments across 30 complete day/night cycles. The important caveat: this is a budgeting model, not proof that every segment is freely interchangeable or that every quest cost is known.

What advances time

Activities carrying an hourglass indicator advance the narrative clock. Quests, some dialogue choices, skill learning, selected interactions and certain travel-point repairs can consume one or more segments.

The game normally shows the hourglass cost before you commit. That is the single most useful habit to build: read the cost before accepting the consequence.

What usually does not advance time

You can roam, investigate and fight between narrative checkpoints without an always-running timer. Fast travel itself does not consume a time segment once the point is available, though unlocking or repairing a travel point may.

Why the system feels inconsistent

Actions that look minor can sometimes consume time, while other substantial activities do not. That is exactly why a generic “one quest = one slot” rule is unsafe.

Use the planner for the costs you can see in your own game instead of treating every quest as identical.

What happens at the deadline?

The deadline is a narrative pressure system rather than a simple real-time failure screen. Choices, missed opportunities and the state of your alliances can shape how the story resolves.

Look for a point-of-no-return warning before committing to an endgame route. Do not assume that reaching day 30 is the only trigger that matters; the route you choose can lock progression earlier.

Practical planning rules

Use the planner below

The planner on this site is intentionally manual at launch. Enter the costs you can see in your own current build and it will total the budget without pretending we already know every quest value.

Playing after launch? Patches can change quest timing, combat balance and route details. Check the update date before relying on exact values.
